Introducing south London’s Cosmo Pyke – he’s genuine, a superb multi-instrumentalist and he’s just like you and me.
Thanks to Flying Vinyl we received an exclusive double-sided 7″ pressing from Cosmo Pyke (his real name) this week.
The 18-year-old from Peckham is an unusual entity in modern day music. You can’t quite put your finger on him – in a good way.
That’s largely down to his mature song writing.
Pyke’s music influenced by life as he sees it. No cliches, nothing forced, just how the world looks through his eyes.
On the Flying Vinyl record B-side ‘Social Sites’ which looks at how social media can affect real life relationships.
Let’s be honest, we’re all guilty of changing the way we are in some way on social media, and Pyke articulates this superbly.
He tackles this issue head on, taking from his own experience of a break-up accelerated by social media paranoia, again, something I am sure at some point or another, nearly everyone has succumbed too.
A-side ‘Chronic Sunshine’ is an upbeat track with off beat guitar chords.
It’s a bit of an ode to his hometown and his experiences of being around south London.
Both these tracks are warm and engaging, and the blend of indie, jazz, blues and hip-hop, create a fresh and original sound.
Pyke is a Brit School graduate, who has already opened for the likes of Rat Boy and JAWS.
And to add to his musical talents he’s a model, skater and spray-paint artist.
His first EP ‘Just Cosmo’ has just arrived, so please give it a listen and let us know what you think.
