After Alice – ‘Gold 99’ (single) review

Powerful alt-rockers After Alice have just released their latest single ‘Gold 99’ – and we were glad to give it a listen.

After Alice are South Carolina-based Steven Fennell and Jason Crowden. They describe themselves as an alternative/indie/power pop/rock band.

‘Gold 99’ is a heavy 90s-style rock song.

It has a riff that is delicious, and pounding drums which drive the song forward.

After Alice are bringing back a style of music that has seemed on the wain in recent years.

It’s a bit of 90s grunge, a bit of classic rock and indie all blended together to bring a fresh and modern sound.

Crowden’s vocals are brilliantly strong, and there are some great blended harmonies which are the cherry on top of the cake.

Crowden, who is the main songwriter in the band, said: “In my early 20s, a couple of friends and I formed a cover band and we began playing locally.

“Although, it was fun and profitable, I wanted to do more with music. I began writing original music around the age of 24 and recorded an EP with my cover band when I was 25 in Atlanta, GA.

“I went back to playing covers until I met Steve Fennell. We started recording songs immediately, and I knew this would be a project that would go well beyond anything I’ve done in the past.

“The creative influence that Steve has contributed to this project has allowed me to grow greatly as a musician. I am excited about the potential this project has and I can’t wait to see what the future of After Alice will bring.”

We look forward to hearing more from these guys in the near future.
